He Had Plans

He Had Plans by Tiffany Greenfield www.eleventhhourfiction.wordpress.com

She saw him day after day, never moving, always waiting.  One day she stopped and asked, “Lunch?”

He looked past her, “No.”

The next day she stopped and asked, “Why not?”

Quietly he said, “I’m waiting on a friend.”

She stared, “How do you know I am not that friend?”

He didn’t respond and she didn’t see him turn his head to watch as she walked away.
